Thanks Melanie! And, yes... listening is a HUGE aspect of Marketing. One of my favorite (and most remembered for business purposes) Bible verses is Proverbs 18:13 which reminds us "To answer before listening—
that is folly and shame." =) =) So so so TRUE.

A lot of people think that the more outgoing you are, the better sales person you'll be. Hogwash. LISTENING is the biggest sales strategy there is. The CONVERSATION? Well, that's the most reliable, and most impressive sales TOOL i've ever discovered!

Brilliant. I especially appreciate your point that we are creators and our personality is not a prison --- in fact, I think of it as quite malleable. As a fellow hermit/homebody/introvert - I, too, created a reading nook out of my closet - I know that a tendency doesn't make me who I am.

I appreciate the notion of deliberately developing skills....these days, I'm really working to refine my deep listening skills with myself...this seems to wax and wane as Life rolls along. But I find if I am not listening deeply to myself, I'm not listening deeply to those I serve. Isn't that one aspect of marketing, listening well?

Raising my glass to fellow loner/closet hermit/lover of books/homebody! And totally agree that when we want it we have to fall in love with it a little more.. sharpen the focus in some way as to love it.. the battling doesn't work (nor the whining as I have found out...).
Such a great article.. and although I am still a bit phobic around speaking I have overcome other marketing pieces that now are part of my repertoire..
I am practicing getting out of perfectionism.. the writing and rewriting and obsessing about getting something perfect.. it's a craziness.. and a bit of an addiction I think..
love to you
