A great reminder during challenging times. I remember when I decided I wanted to get into HR back in the 70's. I was in the typing pool at the time. I was taking night classes in HR (Personnel as it was called back in the old days) and would sit in the ladies lounge on my breaks and study. I can't tell you the number of people who would tell me, "It's impossible to get into HR. Why don't you try to get into accounting, computers or ???" Not a new idea--I had thought about them and knew I belonged in HR. I used to say I would get into HR--even if I had to sweep the floors to get there. I would not be deterred and there was no Plan B. As it turned out, one of the managers I did work for in the "Pool," had an opening; liked my work, knew I was going back to school and selected me for his opening. The rest as they say, was history!
