And I think it’ll be my favorite ERA yet.
Hear me out.
In 2006, 2007… i was already coaching businesses, doing a lot of copywriting but transitioning into strategy.
At that time, in the era of NO INTEREST home loans and credit that flowed like honey…. I was enduring this secret shame of my $50 start up story, my ZERO credit to use story.. my NECESSARY eat-what-you-kill approach to business success. ALL I KNEW was organic marketing, unpaid marketing, what we called then “guerrilla marketing.”
Then, 2008… 2009…. 2010 “hit.”
Credit lines dried up or worse — were CALLED.
The recession hit hard.
People once spending $10K – $15K / month “testing” ads were all of the sudden AWAKE to debt. They wanted a different approach. I was BEYOND excited to share everything I learned — and used– on a shoestring budget.
Seemingly overnight, my “guerrilla marketing” brand was in HIGH demand. But I never changed what I did or what I taught.
2020 was… well, it was what it was.
This introvert didn’t have to change a thing.
But a lot of names you know came knocking when their events and speaking gigs were cancelled overnight. Book tours shut down completely.
I was THRILLED to share my decades-old system with them… to share how I keep showing up in the RIGHT PLACES (for me, for my market) and how they can do the same. One such “name” just came back and talked about his profit being up as his travel (what he thought was NECESSARY) was down… meaning his life satisfaction / family time… way UP.

Now, here we are in another time of some shifting and sifting in the entrepreneurial world. ANYONE still doing bro-marketing and / or selling (or trying to sell) high priced digital products is struggling. I literally can’t think of one exception.
There’s a popular mastermind FULL of digital marketers. Many have found their way to me. EACH of them have said (to me), “well, you know how it is… everyone is struggling.” I correct them EVERY time. NO.. everyone doing it THAT way is struggling. NOT everyone.
I don’t like to self-soothe if it involves self-deception.
Just like in ANY shifting economy…
SOME in your herd or industry will die out.
The herd WILL thin.
And SOME will profit wildly.
DETERMINE to be in that second group.
GO BACK TO BASICS in your business.
If you have been in that digital marketer world,
SLAM YOUR HAND DOWN ON THAT PAUSE BUTTON.

🔥Consider FREE ways to get in front of

🔥STOP the financial bleed. Get lean again.
🔥Show up in ways that let your people know that you have their backs.
🔥Do NOT pay for glossy any more. EVERY market now prefers a little more “grit.” They trust it.
🔥Measure what matters. Money in, money out, cost per lead, leads per week, sales per week… the basics.
🔥Be authentic. No hiding behind bots. You know that “no tears in the writer, no tears in the reader” thing your English teacher used to say, it 100% applies.
