I can’t imagine giggling with my friends or even my team as we talk about ‘going viral’ or what silly thing I could do along with “trending audio.” To be honest, I’d be embarrassed. As a professional. Call it too much ego or too little awareness. It doesn’t really matter, because what I do… works.
For me.
And for everyone else
that does it.
When I consider the FAKE metrics of views and impressions… I come back to an interview Amy Porterfield did on her podcast (I think in 2019) It was a Facebook group owner who had TONS (Like 100s of thousands) of women entrepreneurs in her facebook group. The conversation was around those numbers and how they converted to sales. The facebook group owner was like, “Oh No, most of these people are bored or not even really in business, but they help the algorithm.” lol… I’m paraphrasing, but it was JUST THAT BOLD.
Side note: this woman sells “posts” to said facebook group of bored women now, which SHOULD give a LITTLE pause, but no one pays THAT much attention.
Anyway, call me old school, but I’m just not here for “likes.” I don’t want NUMBERS if those numbers are all wanna-be-preneurs and bored housewives with time to kill. I’m not trying to entertain the bored. And I sure as heck don’t care if something goes viral. NONE of that matters to me as a business owner.
I care if it converts.
And ONLY if it converts.
Too many business owners have BEEN TAUGHT to confuse attention with impact — as if being scrolled past (counts as a scroll) alone is enough to drive revenue. Spoiler: It’s not.
🚨 Most of your viewers… and mine… Aren’t buyers. They’re scrolling while they sit in traffic or half-watching while cooking dinner.
They’re bored, not buying.
They’re curious, not committed.
They’re consuming for entertainment, not transformation.
It’s like standing in the middle of Times Square shouting into the crowd and hoping someone slows down long enough to pay you.
That’s not a strategy. That’s performance art.
Ask ANYONE — and if they are honest — they WILL ADMIT that those who pay them the MOST money are the ones who NEVER comment. Period. So….
The Social Media ALTERNATIVES No One Talks About…
Now let’s talk about a different audience:
— The woman who’s waiting for her industry journal to arrive in the mail.
— The one who shows up LIVE for a podcast every Tuesday at 9am — notebook in hand.
— The business owner who travels to a live event, takes notes, shakes hands, and invests her time.
These people?
They aren’t bored.They’re hungry.
They’re deliberate.
Intentional.
They’re investing their time (and often their money) to find a solution. And when they find someone they trust — they BUY.
That’s the kind of visibility and reach I teach.
