I remember the day that a former partner HINTED at the fact that I was “replaceable.” The person said, “They all want to be the next Michelle.”
My genuine response, “Good luck.”
No surprise that the partnership didn’t continue. đ
The brand floundered a bit… and then disappeared.
Turns out, there WAS NO “next Michelle.” **wink**
Bottom line: At the time, it looked like loss.
And to be honest, I felt it.
But I had already looked at the numbers â before, during, and after â and the truth was obvious:
The big, glossy, âfancyâ version of what we built looked impressive⊠scratch that… it WAS impressive.
Incredibly impressive.
I am HONORED to have been a part of it.
But it was less bottom-line profitable and way more stressful.
So, I walked away. No negotiating. No lawyers. Not even a look back.
I JUST got back to basics. to MY thing.
To what was simple.
To what actually made money.
To what had always worked.
That experience stripped away the illusion that bigger automatically means better.
It forced me back to my own rhythmâ my instincts, my way, my old-school sense of whatâs real… and whatâs just noise.
The irony?
What they thought would be my entrepreneurial obituary made me literally unstoppable, MORE confident, and MORE self-reliant.
Because once youâve seen the inside of something âbigâ and realized your own solo version was stronger, leaner, and saner â you stop being impressed.
You start being dangerous.
Now Iâm iron-clad in what I build.
Confident in my own methods.
And completely unwilling to complicate what already works.
Nothing â and no one â can rock that.
