I spoke with someone recently as a favor. I had no intention of selling her anything. She was disappointed (devastated) by her 2025 income. The worry was that she’d have to get a J-O-B. So, I asked her TWO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS:
1) What were HOPING to sell in 2025?
2) What were you doing MOST CONSISTENTLY to sell the answer(s) to #1?
Her answer to #1 was slow… and not clear at all. She started giving me a few things that she was WORKING ON to sell, but it took some hard conversation to get her to tell me that the PRIMARY thing she really COULD sell was an e-book.
Okay.
And the answer to #2 was MUCH more direct, but not sales related at all. She was being consistent in social media. She was getting new head shots. She worked on herself.
But SELLING???? Actually asking people to BUY something? THAT wasn’t happening.
Someone had told her NOT to sell on social media,
yet social media was the ONLY place she was showing up.
My heart went out to her and I WISH I could say that this situation was RARE. The truth is, in a world of “online business,” people are OFTEN confused between ATTENTION-seeking activities and SALES -seeking activities. BRAND building activities and BANK building activities.

if you do not ACKNOWLEDGE
the BASIC PREMISE
of being a BUSINESS OWNER,
you will not profit.
This includes:
— Selling. Of course. THIS is how you get paid. It IS a contact sport. You MUST choreograph it.
PLEASE don’t rely on a strategy that would have a cold market see you, hear you and then make up their OWN sales process to buy a product that YOU do not EVEN tell them about.
(Read that again. Make it EASY for people to buy from you.)
— Profit. DO look at your margins. Your time and your money output and your INPUT of sales revenue. Don’t be stuck in an expensive hobby.
— Cause and Effect. THIS is the most freeing part of all. YOU are the CAUSE. So, don’t shirk this responsibility to the algorithm or even to your faith or any other such thing. You want a certain EFFECT. (Example: You want to bring in $20K / month.) YOU get to be the CAUSE of that effect.
So now you get to plan: What is the most DIRECT, common-sensical, FACT-BASED path to get me to that effect?
Don’t overcomplicate it.
