I have never golfed.
I have only been on the golf course twice in my life and I just “rode along.”
I have zero skill and maybe LESS actual athletic prowess.
My swings are so “off” that the camera doesn’t even REGISTER half of them, so I LOSE some of my points because the system doesn’t catch them.
I’m afraid my swing will hit the ground and I’ll snap my elbow.
If I ever do swing even remotely hard, I lose my balance.
It IS a VERY entertaining sight to behold. lol…
the first time I went, Shelbey was sending her dad pics and videos of me playing Top Golf… laughing at me. 😊
But Chris knows me. He warned her, “Careful mocking your mom. She has a way of making things work for her.”
OF COURSE, I won. I beat them all, old and young.
Yesterday, I won again. lol…
HOW?
it’s the same way I win at business, so I’m HAPPY to share:
first, I FIGURE out the game. I HAVE TO KNOW what I am measuring and what puts more points on the board. I don’t just assume. For instance — at Top Golf — depending on the game, LONG shots in the air put less points on the board than shorter shots on the ground. I WATCH what works because I have to know what matters to the final score.
(I don’t like to lose, ever.
At anything.
I am ruthlessly — although often silently– strategic.)
In business, points are dollars. SO I WATCH what brings in dollars. I do not watch what brings in views or likes or shares. I watch what SELLS, I measure what moves the REAL needles, not the fake needles.
I have been in business for over 25 years. This (what sells) HAS changed over the years. But I watch and depending on the “game” or “season” I adjust my swing. #ofcourse Because I PLAY to win.
Next, I find what works for me. Once I know how the game is scored and what puts points in the board, I keep testing… but I TEST according to my own limitations.
For example, I KNOW that I have no power in my swing. (Remember, I’m afraid of hitting the ground and breaking my elbow.) So, short of hitting HARDER, what are my options? With testing, I find what works.
And then…
to everyone’s horror and boredom and irritation,
I DO NOT DEVIATE from that which works.
I do it over and over and over and over again.
Until I win.
The same in business.
Figure out what sells.
Find my OWN way to do THAT.
Do it repetitively… ad nauseam.
Some of you are not moving forward in your business because you are NOT measuring the right stuff. You’re focusing on VIRALITY instead of profitability… or you’re focusing on building social numbers vs. bank account numbers. You’re literally not looking at the game you’re playing and how to win.
Others of you are stuck because you KEEP TRYING TO SWING LIKE “THEM.” I beat Chris AND CJ AND Riley yesterday. They are ALLLLLLLLL three ALL muscle. They have TREMENDOUS power and CJ and Chris have actual golf swings that have been perfected over time. I can’t compete with them in muscle, strength OR skill. So I FIND / CREATE another way to compete ON MY OWN TERMS.
NO ONE can compete with you at being you.
Once you know the rules of business,
FIND or CREATE a way to do it YOUR WAY.
And some of you are stuck because you keep changing lanes and direction. You are following too many leaders, wondering what will work when NOTHING will work if you keep switching gears and changing directions the way you are. (And conversely, ALMOST anything will work if you stay at it long enough.)
Granted, I will do / eat / say / write the same thing repeatedly… to my own utter boredom. But repetition IS a super power. Stick-to-it-tive-ness IS a super power. I am where I am in business LARGELY because I never went away.
If I can help YOU win at business, I want to.
I LOVE working with people who flat out
refuse to lose.
