I don’t want to teach you how to compete and win. There are 100,000 coaches — not to mention AI twins and ‘bots now– who will do that.
Quick story. I was a cheerleader in high school. Some years, over 100 girls tried out to make the team, to try out in front of a packed stadium with paid, impartial judges from out of town. We were national champions. MOST of us could tumble. I mean, AT THE MINIMUM, they could do a back hand spring.
But not me.
Even then, I was old school.
A cartwheel it was, for me. 😊
My jumps weren’t amazing.
I had NO REAL talent.
or athletic ability.
So, I cheerfully relied on grit.
AND STRATEGY
to be JUST GOOD ENOUGH to win.
I CAREFULLY chose who I tried out WITH.
(Not ONE person who EVER tried out with me made the team I don’t believe.)
I would ORCHESTRATE the judges attention…
shouting out — for instance — when doing the dance routine.

TRUTH: Competition is for those TRYING to keep up.
Those at the top are NOT “competing.”
Not that we COULDN’T compete.
Or are somehow intimidated by a healthy competition.
For MOST OF US at the top,
a little blood on our lip LIGHTS US UP in a fight.
Little known truth: we enjoy it.
We don’t compete — frankly — because it’s a loser’s game
and we don’t have to.
We are in a category of one.
We WORKED to get here.
We re-imagined the game,
created our own rules
ignored the rule makers
and set our own pace.
We CHEER for those competing with us.
Because we know a secret:
We are ALLLL capable of showing up in a category of one.
It’s just that your magic dulls
hides
and play coy
when you are DESPERATELY trying to “get it right”
following someone else’s list of shoulds.
LEADERS happen,
— market leaders
industry leaders —
when they stop following
and lead.
